Spring Cycle Camp '23
Events We Ride
Individually, we take on rides from Colorado's Triple Bypass to climbs in the French Alps to local criteriums, sanctioned either by American Bicycle Racing or USA Cycling. We ride the events listed below more or less as a club. We also organize a spring pilgrimage to North Georgia, tackling climbs featured in the Six Gap Century and the old Tour of Georgia.
Grand Fondo New York — Sunday, May 21, 2023. An intense, European-style fondo for lovers of green kits.
Dairyland Dare — Saturday, Aug 5, 2023. Hilly, bucolic Wisconsin splendor in serving sizes from 50k to 200k.
GFNY Rockford — Sunday, Aug 6, 2023. The New York vibe comes to us! Long & medium courses.
Ride across Wisconsin — Sat/Sun, Aug 19/20, 2023. One- and two-day options; mixed-surface and all-paved route options; cows not optional.
Race the Lake — Sunday, Aug 20 2023. Circumnavigate Lake Winnebago. Fast or chill: wave start times, from 25 to 15 mph.
Bike the Drive — Sunday, Sept 3, 2023. DuSable Lake Shore Drive as it was meant to be.
C group departs 7am. A/B riders welcome BUT don't harsh our mellow! Meet at the Pickwick for a 11-mile route on city streets to enter DLSD at Hollywood. DLSD itself is a 30-mile loop. We rest halfway, at Museum of Science & Industry. MSI has food, bathroom, and T-shirt pickup; rubber bands will help fit that shirt in your jersey pocket. Return via N Branch Trail. Round trip ~53 miles. Combine code LASTMIN10 with an Active Transportation Alliance membership for a double discount. Print your ticket and attach to bike. 32-mile option: Stop at Grant Park, mile 32 on your way back from MSI. Visit the post-ride festival. Board a Blue Line train at Monroe and Dearborn, 5' away, get off at Cumberland and ride into town. Or ride 1 mile west on Randolph (a protected bike lane) to the Ogilvie Metra terminal. Metra leaves at 10:30am and 12:30pm (scheduled) and 1:30pm (BTD special!), so plenty of time to grab freebies, see bike vendors, and hear the band at Grant Park. Bikes are allowed on all CTA trains and weekend Metras; bring a bungie cord for Metra. Driving downtown to ride with the kids, or on your own? Try Grant Park South garage; ample volunteers guide cyclists riding up the garage ramp onto Lake Shore Drive. C-ride route maps going to DLSD and returning home from DLSD.
Door County Century — Sunday, Sept 10, 2023. An overnight or weekend. Count on someone here to book a huge airbnb.
North Shore Century — Sunday, Sept 10, 2023. Pay to ride our usual roads.... but in support of a good cause!
Apple Cider Century — Sunday, Sept 24, 2023. Tour Michiana backroads before the season wraps up.
Where We Chat
Need a buyer for that old Trek, or a partner for an impromptu ride? Got a photo to share? Join Park Ridge Cycling's Facebook group. Not an email fan? You can see our weekly ride times here instead.
Strava users: You can follow every cyclist in town—or join our Strava club instead. Club rides will appear in your feed separately from your activities and those of folks you follow. Use it to find a new local route, or simply add a post. You can specify whether your rides are visible to the club, to your followers, or just you. Strava's club FAQ is here and privacy details here.
